Function SDBMHash

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

Calculates SDBM hash.

Unit

EHash

Syntax

Code (Delphi)

function SDBMHash(

const AData: Pointer;

const ADataSize: Cardinal

): TSDBMHash; overload;

function SDBMHash(

const AData: RawByteString

): TSDBMHash; overload;

Parameters

AData [in]

A data to calculate hash.

ADataSize [in]

Size of AData in bytes.

Return value

SDBM hash of the specified AData.

Remarks

SDBM hash is good general hashing function with good distribution. It was found to do well in scrambling bits, causing better distribution of the keys and fewer splits. This is one of the algorithms used in the Berkeley DB. EurekaLog uses SDBM as general-purpose hash for hashed lists.
